Stars continue to actively get involved in Haiti rescue efforts. Recently, U2 and Jay-Z—together with producer Swizz beatz–worked on a new song to raise funds to help the earthquake victims in the Caribbean country.
In a radio interview, U2 guitarist The Edge shared that his band wrote, completed and recorded the song a week after they were informed about the idea.
He, together with U2 frontman Bono, Jay-Z and Rihanna are scheduled to perform in London for the Hope for Haiti telethon.
The U2 guitarist shared that Bono was contacted by producer Swizz. “He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti..
“So, Bono came up with the phrase on the phone. We wrote a song, finished, recorded, and sent it back to them”, he continued.
Prior to this collaboration, rapper Jay-Z has worked with U2 in their recent tour and in the 2009 MTV Europe Awards.
Swizz Beatz also posted Twitter messages about the scheduled project with the music icons. “I told you I was working on something amazing for Haiti. They need us!”
However, the single has no confirmed release date yet. There was also no confirmation yet as to whether the song would be launched on the telethon.
Meanwhile, the Haiti telethon will also feature artists like Coldplay, who will be playing with Jay-Z in London.
