If Taylor Swift deserves any consolation after the MTV Video Music Awards incident with Kanye West, it should probably be the six nominations the 19-year-old singer earned at the 37th Annual American Music Awards.

Swift, who was interrupted by West on stage during her VMA acceptance speech, is up for the artist of the year award which includes Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Eminem, and the late Michael Jackson in the nominee list. She is also nominated for favourite female artist in the adult contemporary, pop and country categories.

Eminem bagged four nominations including favourite album in the rap/hip-hop category for “Relapse” while Jackson’s “This Is It” single is nominated for five awards.

The Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, T.I., Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon also earned three nominations each.

The nominees for the 37th annual American Music Awards in Beverly Hills, were announced on Tuesday by Paula Abdul, Snoop Dog and Adam Lambert. The show will air on Sunday, November 22 and will feature performances by the Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys and Lambert, who will mark this as his first performance from his upcoming album. More performers will be announced in the next few weeks.

“With the support of the artists and labels, we are looking forward to an amazing line-up of performances during this year’s show highlighting the diversity and breadth of this year’s eclectic music scene,” show producers Larry Klein and Orly Adelson said.

An online voting through the website of the American Music Awards, amavote.com and Mycokerewards.com will determine the winners. Fans can also vote for their favourite “T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist” which includes Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga under the Pop/Rock Category.
