Susan Boyle gets snubbed in Brit Awards nominations

Susan Boyle may have wowed Simon Cowell, sold millions of records and captivated the hearts of people around the world but her singing talent may not be enough for the British record industry as it failed to include her in any single nomination for the 2010 Brit Awards.

There are speculations that Boyle may not be stylish or trendy enough as she was surpassed by younger and more stylish female artists like Leona Lewis, Lilly Allen, Florence and the Machine and Pixie Lott. She did not even get nominations for the best breakthrough act or best album categories.

Boyle, who started her career through ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, managed to lead both the UK and U.S. charts despite her less fashionable look.

A source said, “The problem for the Brits is they’re supposed to be a celebration of British music—and cool. Whatever anyone thinks of Susan Boyle, she certainly isn’t cool”.

Meanwhile, others consider the snub as a repudiation of Simon Cowell, who singled out Boyle from the candidates and guided her towards stardom. According to another source, this shows “how Simon Cowell is regarded by many in the record business”.

However, Boyle remains humble with all the success she has been earning. She said, “To anyone who has a dream, I say, follow that dream. You are never too old. It is never too late. And dreams can become a reality”.
