Simon Cowell, who is known to be a mean guy on TV, poured his emotions while being interviewed recently by his friend, Piers Morgan.

According to UK sources, Cowell was interviewed by Piers, a journalist-turned-television personality, for ’Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’. The judge of ‘American Idol’ started to choke up when he spoke of losing Eric Cowell, his father, in 1999.

British paper Daily Mail said Simon started showing his emotional side when a video, featuring his mother Julie talking about the death of her husband, was played during the interview.

In the clip, Julie Cowell said Simon “just went to pieces” after finding out about the death of his father. Cowell then spoke about what happened and started shedding tears.

“I rang both of them to tell them the news and my mum was acting in kind of a strange way and then she called me back and told me”, he said.

Morgan then asked the Idol judge what his reaction was upon receiving the news of his father’s passing.

“Oh Piers, it was um, it wasn’t, wasn’t good”, Cowell said. He went on to describe the situation as ‘horrible’ and shared his sentiments on mortality.

When Morgan told Cowell that his mother had never seen him in such an emotional state, the Idol juror admitted that dealing with the death of his father was the most difficult time of his life.

“I find it very, very difficult to deal with that kind of reality”, he said. “I’ve never lost anyone in my life, you know, it was the first thing like that that ever happened and I just couldn’t accept it”.
