When naked pictures of R&B singer Rihanna were leaked on the internet, the star said it was “the worst thing that could possibly ever happen to me”.
She spoke to US radio station Hot 97 of the “humiliating” leak of the pictures she originally intended to send to an ex-boyfriend. But she initially defended her reason to have the photos taken. “If you don’t send your boyfriend naked pictures, then I feel bad for him,” the singer said.
It has been a tough year for the 21-year-old Rihanna so far. Earlier this year, she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, singer, Chris Brown.
While at ABC’s Good Morning America programme earlier this month, the singer spoke of the assault saying that “it could happen to anybody”. She now finds her reconciliation with Brown as something “embarrassing”.
She said, “I realised that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed.”
Brown was charged for the assault and sentenced to five years’ probation in August. Since then, he has apologised to his fans.
As for Rihanna’s naked pictures, they appeared in May on the internet.
“I just felt like my whole privacy was taken before that and then, when that came out, I thought, ‘oh great, so now there’s nothing they don’t know about me and my private life’,” she said.
“It was humiliating and it was embarrassing – especially my mum having to see that,” she added. “It was two days before Mother’s Day, so I was nervous. I sent her flowers first before I called and then she texted me – when the world is against me she’s always there supporting.”
