Hollywood celebrities called on their fans to help those affected by the 7.0 earthquake that hit the island nation of Haiti on Tuesday. Among those celebrities were power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. The couple, who previously travelled to Haiti in support of Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation, said they were “devastated” by the tragedy.

“We are devastated by the news from Haiti”, said a statement released by the couple to The Agence France-Presse. “We will work closely with our good friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter”.

“It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades”, said Angelina.

Brad added, “We understand the first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care”.

Meanwhile, other celebrities tweeted about helping those in need in Haiti. Ben Stiller posted in his account, saying, “People in Haiti need our help and attention right now”.

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore also urged their followers to make a donation through UNICEF.

Paula Abdul, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry, LL Cool J, Jessica Alba and Diddy also asked the public to help Haiti.

Ryan Seacrest also asked his fans to give donations via The Red Cross.
