Michael Jackson’s two eldest kids will again be seen by the public after their father’s memorial service, as they are set to appear on the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday to accept the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for the late King of Pop.
“The whole world is waiting to see these children blossom,” according to Brian Oxman, Joe Jackson’s lawyer.
Sources close to the Jacksons denied reports that the children would be doing some performances like singing or dancing on the show.
Michael’s mother, Katherine, is also expected to be on the show, while his father, Joe, chose to snub the Grammys because he was angry over the behind-the-scenes discussions resulting in the deal that allowed the children to take the award.
The sources added that the decision was just made this week after Mrs Jackson’s complaint to Grammy producers that there had been no invitation to the family members.
Other sources in the Jackson family also said that she was at first informed by producers that the special administrators of the estate would make the decision on who would attend the tribute to Michael.
However, the estate’s spokesman said that it was the Grammy producers who should decide on the matter.
Oxman said the estate’s administrators have disallowed the family from making decisions related to the late pop star’s legacy.
The Recording Academy will give the Lifetime Achievement Award to the King of Pop on Saturday’s Special Merit Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
