Adam Lambert’s performance at the American Music Awards has resulted in him being banned from making several appearances on ABC. But the event that transpired weeks ago no longer jolts Lambert, who claims that he is fine with what happened that night.
“No regrets”, was Lambert’s line when he spoke to Barbara Walters during the ‘10 Most Fascinating People of 2009’ special which aired on Wednesday night.
Lambert explained his performance that saw him thrust a back-up dancer’s face towards his crotch, kiss a male keyboardist then give the middle finger in front of the camera, as the result of a sudden rush of adrenaline.
“To be honest with you, I just… Adrenaline is a funny, funny thing and… I got really excited”, he told Walters in response to her question why he performed in such manner.
He was also asked how he thought the performance would impact his career. But Lambert said that the public should not stereotype him for that one show.
“I don’t think that you can really jump to conclusions about me as an artist based on one performance. That’s an ignorant thing to do”, the ‘American Idol’ runner-up said.
During the interview, Lambert also spoke of his decision to reveal his homosexuality.
“I’m a very open book. I kind of wear myself on my sleeve”, Lambert said. “Yes, I am a homosexual, deal with it… It doesn’t really matter who I’m sleeping with, what matters is I’m singing. It’s my voice”.
