Lady Gaga has been tapped to join Simon Cowell in the American version of ‘The X Factor’, with reports claiming that the music mogul has already offered her to fill the vacant seat on the judges’ panel.
A source said that “Simon thinks Lady Gaga is great and really likes her energy. Conversations have been happening between Cowell’s US team and her people about what kind of role she could have on the show”.
The flamboyant singer and fashion icon impressed Cowell during her performance in a huge bathtub at UK’s ‘The X Factor’ last year. Since then, the show’s judge/producer has been very eager to work with the 23-year-old singer on the talent competition.
However, the pop star’s tight tour schedule and commitments may discount the possibility of her joining the show although she would be checking her availability to see if she could still become a part of it.
On the other hand, Lady Gaga’s entry will mean that Paula Abdul would be eliminated from the talent show’s jury. Another source stated: “There’s not room for both Paula and Lady Gaga”. He added that “It would definitely be an either-or situation”.
Earlier this month, Cowell had revealed that this would be his last season for ‘American Idol’, as he would launch the US version of ‘The X Factor’ next year.
Among the other prospective judges for X Factor were Spice Girls’ Melanie Brown and Cheryl Cole, who is currently a judge on the UK show.
