Jay-Z said on Sunday night at the backstage of the Grammys that he has someone in mind who could become the next King of Pop.
When Jay-Z was asked what his most favourite Grammy moment was, he hinted that it might be one of the musicians who performed in the Grammy tribute to Michael Jackson.
“I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job”, said Jay-Z. “I think he’s… He’s one of the guys that’s in line to, you know, fill those huge shoes”.
But while Jay-Z thinks that the R&B star has the talent, he also said that he did not want his friend to feel undue pressure. “I don’t wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he’s one of the guy’s that’s in line to do that”, added Jay-Z.
When asked about Beyonce’s stunning Grammy performance, where she sang ‘If I Were A Boy’ and snippets of Alanis Morisette’s ‘You Oughta Know’, Jay-Z said that the performances of his wife are always so impressive that he could already get used to them. “Oh fantastic, but she… It’s almost to a point where you just, you know, you’re almost numb to it because she’s so magnificent every single time out”, said Jay-Z.
After being caught looking as a proud husband at the end of Beyonce’s performance, Jay-Z quipped, “I’m a fan, you know, I’m a fan. I’m here as a fan as well”.
