Professional Dancer Derek Hough will not hit the stage of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ with celebrity partner, Joanna Krupa, due to a possible flu virus. Hough already tweeted about the signs of his condition last week and he eventually had to withdraw due to the symptoms. He will be replaced by Maksim Chmerkovskiy who had helped Krupa during the previous week.
Kelly Osbourne told Access Hollywood that they are unsure of the type of flu Hough has acquired. “They didn’t say if it was swine flu, but it could be, they said,” Osbourne said.
Mark Ballas, the partner of Melissa Joan Hart, has also been under the weather but will continue to perform on Monday.
“Derek is sick, Mark is sick, but it hit Derek really hard,” Osbourne said. “(Derek) had to go for IV because he got dehydrated … He came to rehearsal yesterday so everyone saw him, but I think it just really threw him. He didn’t expect it.”
In spite of the flu-stricken cast, Osbourne thinks that she and her partner, Louis van Amstel, will make it through. “Louis and I are both very clean people so I’ve never worried that he was going to get sick and he’s never worried that I was going to get sick,” Osbourne said. “And we’ve been going to get B12 shots and stuff, so hopefully we’ll be fine. Fingers crossed.”
Monday night’s show will feature Osbourne dancing to the tune of “Crazy Train”, one of the hits made by her father, Ozzy Osbourne.
“I just hope I can do it justice because it’s scary,” she said. “They did my hair exactly the same as my dad’s in the music video. So every time I’m walking (around) backstage everyone keeps laughing at me.”
