Paula Abdul has approved her replacement on ‘American Idol’ and said that Ellen DeGeneres will be an excellent judge on the show. She posted the message on her Twitter page Thursday.

Through her Twitter page, Abdul revealed in August that she would no longer be appearing for the ninth season of American Idol where she served as judge alongside Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell for the show’s last eight seasons. Kara DioGuardi joined the show’s panel of judges in the show’s previous season.

Abdul wished Ellen good luck. “She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!” she said.

She also complimented both the show and DeGeneres during her interview with Access Hollywood on Thursday. “’American Idol’ is a fantastic show that offers an invaluable platform to young talent. Ellen DeGeneres is wildly funny and talented in her own right. I wish her and the show only the best of luck,” she stated.

Ellen DeGeneres was announced as the new judge on Wednesday night. Numerous stars have filled Paula’s position during the audition rounds, including Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham.

Last season’s newcomer Kara DioGuardi also commented about Ellen’s upcoming presence in the show. “[I'm] thrilled. I’m a huge Ellen DeGeneres fan. I think she’s going to bring so much to the show. She’s somebody who loves music, she’s positive she’s somebody who’s watched the show from the beginning, she knows everything there is to know about ‘American Idol’”.

She added: “I’m so excited to hang out with her. I’ve only met her once. I would love to say, ‘This is great,’ to let her know that I’m completely ecstatic”.
