The iconic Elizabeth Taylor posted messages on her Twitter account in praise of the Michael Jackson film entitled “This Is It”. A private screening was held in Los Angeles last week prior to its worldwide release on Wednesday.
“It is the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen,” said Taylor who starred in classic films such as “Cleopatra”, “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof”, and “Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Wolf”. “It cements forever Michael’s genius in every aspect of creativity.”
The 77-year-old actress, being one of Jackson’s best friends, was saddened by the death of the King of Pop on June 25. She said that she shed happy tears after watching the film.
“To say the man is a genius is an understatement. He cradles each note, coaxes the music to depths beyond reality,” she wrote in one of her posts. “I wept from pure joy at his God given gift. There will never, ever be the likes of him again.”
She suggested that people listen to the message of songs like “Man in the Mirror” and to remember Michael’s message of love. She also expressed that the film should be “nominated in every category conceivable” and watched by everyone.
“You owe it to yourselves and your loved ones to see this again and again. Memorize it and say to yourselves, ‘I saw genius in my lifetime,’” she wrote on her Twitter page. “I loved genius in my lifetime. God was so good to me. I will love Michael forever and so will you, if you don’t already.”
