Charlie Sheen’s representative confirmed to Access Hollywood on Tuesday that the actor will be entering rehab. A statement released by the rep said: “As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility”.
Another source reported that Sheen had not yet entered a rehab facility when the news was announced. But on Tuesday, just before 8:00 PM PST, the source said the actor had already left his house for an undisclosed rehab centre.
The rehab stint of the actor may affect his job, according to the rep. “He will take some time off his series ‘Two and a Half Men’”, the rep added. CBS confirmed later that production of the show will be suspended.
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler, along with Warner Bros. Television President Peter Roth and ‘Two and a Half Men’ Creator/Executive Producer Chuck Lorre has released a statement showing their support for Sheen.
“We wish him nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter. Production on ‘Two and a Half Men’ will be temporarily suspended,” the statement said.
An insider commented that Sheen’s decision to enter rehab is not surprising to people close to the actor. Earlier this month, Sheen was charged with one felony count of menacing, a misdemeanour count of criminal mischief, and a misdemeanour count of assault in the third degree, after his arrest on Christmas Day.
Sheen was urged to seek treatment following his arrest as it may involve a three-year stay in jail.
Sheen was last seen in public on Sunday during the opening of the play ‘The Subject Was Roses’, which stars his father, Martin Sheen.
