Celebrating the Susan Boyle Story

Simon Cowell and other celebrities will be joining Susan Boyle in a weekend TV special in honour of the 48-year-old singing sensation’s Cinderella story. The one-hour show entitled, “I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story,” will air on TV Guide Network at 8 pm ET on Sunday. The show will feature Boyle, the West End cast of “Les Miserables”, Broadway star Elaine Paige, and other celebrities.

Boyle, who rose to fame after her life-altering performance last spring on “Britain’s Got Talent”, has become a best-selling recording artist; and all she needs is a prince. But for Boyle, love can wait.

“Och, there’s no time for that now. I’m far too busy,” she said. “There was a TV company that wanted to set me up with a man. Apparently he was a nice man, but I’ve got my living to do now. I don’t mind being friendly, but no marriage plans as yet.”

Her debut CD, “I Dreamed a Dream”, rose to the No.1 spot last week. Columbia Records, Boyle’s record label, said that the first week sales of the album were the biggest for the entire year. The CD is also considered the best-selling debut album made by a woman in the Billboard SoundScan era.

Boyle, despite her success, remains coy. Her image has changed and success has lifted her out of obscurity. Yet, a shopping spree is not something on her priority list. She said, “I would like to do something good with the money — be useful to other people, help them. I have a few ideas in mind.”
